A School for Our Times
The Ananda Living Wisdom™ School was founded in 1972
on the belief that we have entered a new age of energy and
spiritual consciousness that should be expressed
in the way we educate our children.
Some of the interesting ways this school system is appropriate for our times:
- Students learn how to direct their energy from the inside.
- Cooperation and personal excellence.
- Experiential activities for learning to be intrinsically happy
- A student-centered curriculum that makes traditional academics relevant
- A maximum of 12 students per class makes room for individual uniqueness
Our 40 years of refining this system has given us confidence that we have found a powerful way to prepare children for our times.
Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, we have found that this prestigious organization has seen the same thing we have:
“If you could put what you are doing in the public schools,
it would change the world.”
— School superintendant at initial accreditation visit
“This school is the best kept secret in Northern California.”
— School principal at most recent renewal
We invite you to visit and see if our school is right for you and your child.
Each year at the Ananda Living Wisdom High School we administer a nationally-recognized standardized test called the Iowa Test of Educational Development. It is a test that measures reading comprehension, vocabulary development, mastery of English grammar, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical computation, skills that are very similar to those measured by the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), rather than the fact-based approach currently used with California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR). This year our students obtained a group score in the 99th percentile, or the very best you can do. This means that there were no other high schools in the U.S. that had a higher average score than our group, although one percent of American high schools would have a similar rating. We’d like to publicly acknowledge our students for their high intelligence and strong work ethic. It has been a great joy to work with them this year.
